First Lady Michelle Obama steps out in Lanvin sneakers and they're only $540! - Oh who cares? I don't think that she should be limited to only wearing shoes from the bogo clearance rack just because she is the first lady. Let the woman wear what she wants.  It is sort of funny that she is at a "Feeding America" event.

I still don't know what to make of Peter Jackson's, "District 9." I never saw Cloverfield and I'm not much on alien movies. Unless the alien movies have Bill Pulman standing on a pile of rubble with a PA loudspeaker shouting about independence day - that's something I will always get behind.

Summer Movies

The Top 20 Movies of Summer 2009 - Judd Apatow's "Funny People" is getting award buzz.  Sam Raimi is back doing what he does best, "Drag Me To Hell" looks perfect.  "The Hangover" and "Year One" look funny. Still, I am most looking forward to that low budget, weird, sci-fi movie, "The Moon." The real question remains, when is the next Batman? Terminator and Wolverine are not the same.

House #2

We are looking at this today.

Atlas Shrugged (2011) movie? I've been trying to put together a cast in my head for some time now. I think Olivier Martinez would make a great Francisco d'Anconia

House #1

I wish there was a drive-thru restaurant that served healthy food.  What if Trader Joe's opened up a drive-thru restaurant that served healthy snacks and small meals?

Pull the flannel out of the closet and pour yourself some whiskey - this is Americana at its best.  They will be in Portland on June 6th at Dante's.

Al Davis is Crazy and the Yankees are good at blowing leads

The NFL Draft only further proved how senile Al Davis is.  Watching the Raiders draft is like filling out a march madness bracket with a girl who picks teams based solely on team names. Conversely, Buffalo had a great draft and drafted two players out of the state of Oregon. Just one more reason to be a Bills Billiever!

The Yankees blowing the 6-1 lead was not a surprise. A grand slam? Sure why not. Another homerun later the same inning? You bet! Old man Pettitte is on the hill today and surprisingly he is 2-0. Go Yankees.

Agreed, this project looks interesting

I plan on hosting a big Knuckle Draggers party to celebrate Baldoni's big movie (which looks really good) - more details later. And if you are wondering, yes that is Omar Gooding.

@ THE MOVIES

The Wrestler
The movie is good, the title song from the soundtrack is better.

Fleet Foxes/Blitzen Trapper Show

Steph and I went to see Fleet Foxes and Blitzen Trapper last night at the McDonald Theater in Eugene. We met up with Kevin (aka the real hidden booty) of Kamp Grizzly fame and took in 3 hours of great music.  After the show we ran into more blogger friends, Eric and Sam

If you enjoy folk music (think throwback 60s/70s), you will love Fleet Foxes. Blitzen Trapper is a more difficult band to define with a genre - some call it alt-country (I refuse to use the word 'indie' but some call it indie-country). Regardless, it's great music. Listen to a few of the tracks I've linked below.

Blitzen Trapper - Furr
Blitzen Trapper - Not Your Lover
Blitzen Trapper - Black River Killer
Blitzen Trapper - Fire & Fast Bullets

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
Fleet Foxes - Blue Ridge Mountains
Fleet Foxes - Tiger Mountain Peasant Song
Fleet Foxes - Your Protector

"The Killers' Brandon Flowers has blamed Nirvana and Kurt Cobain for making rock music depressing. Despite the seminal grunge frontman dying almost 15 years ago to the day (he took his life on April 5, 1994), Flowers lambasted Cobain. 'I don't mean it in a bad way but I think Kurt Cobain and grunge took the fun out of rock and roll,' he said. However, Flowers says that he thinks his band is now making American music 'a lot more playful and brighter'"

“I have had it with these Monkey fighting snakes on this Monday to Friday plane!”

NY Times columnist does a snarky interview with the founders of Twitter, Ev and Biz -

"I would rather be tied up to stakes in the Kalahari Desert, have honey poured over me and red ants eat out my eyes than open a Twitter account."

Chunklet: "Continue to f#$% off, Billy Corgan. Seriously."

The Avett Brothers

The Avett Brothers - If It's The Beaches
Steph and I are going to see these guys next month at the McDonald theater here in Eugene. Is anyone else going?

I don't really care about the NBA. Still, I can't help but root for the Bulls because they are so young (and I hate Boston). No one is beating the Cavs.

The 22-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians prove that the Yankees have been cursed - they should have never built a new stadium - the Gods of baseball are pissed.

Last.fm so far and the web in general

Last.fm is just another tool for tools to show other tools how 'cool' they are.  "Hey look what I listen to, oh haven't heard of this band yet?  Yeah, that's because I'm like wayyyy cooler than you."

That's what twitter is too - "Look at how F@!#$ing clever/ironic I am" - "Look at all the cool hobbies I do" - "Look at all the cool events I'm going to" -  BLAH BLAH BLAH.  Is there anything more self-important than thinking that others actually care about what you are doing 24/7?

That's what blogs are too - "Read my thoughts on life" - "Look at how smart I am" - "Look at all my original ideas" - "I will post pictures of my pretty friends and also show off my photography skills."

Facebook is just a retarded, more vapid version of what blogging used to be and what twitter is - "Just pictures of me and my beautiful friends and a couple of quick status updates that are usually meant to be ironic, funny or illustrate what great tastes I have."

That's what the web is. Just a number of different ways for you to show others how cool you are.  The worst part, I have a Last.fm account, a blog, a facebook and a twitter.

Steph took it upon herself to change out my desktop wallpaper.  It's not everyday a woman is eaten by a polar bear.  Anyone see the video?  Ouch.

Last.fm

It's been a long time since I used Last.fm.  When I first heard about it (9 internet years ago or 2005/2006), I used it for only a short time.  In its early days, it only had a handful of full tracks.  There were plenty of bands on the site, but you could only play 29 seconds of their songs.  Aside from sampling tracks, Last.fm had no real purpose (anyone remember audioscrobbler?)  Now, Last.fm is a fully functional site that actually allows you to listen to full tracks, finally.  It also has a social element to it that allows you to see what your friends are listening to and give and get recommendations (blah).  So, if you are interested, I just started using Last.fm again.  I have a lot of cool friends who listen to good music.  I listen to what they listen to and pretend that I have great taste in music.  You can do the same.
